P0330 — Knock Sensor 2 Circuit (Bank 2)
Moderate severityWhat it means
P0330 is stored when the engine control unit sees a fault involving the bank 2 knock sensor circuit. The knock sensor listens for detonation (pinging) so the control unit can retard ignition timing to protect the engine. The control unit has flagged this circuit or signal as outside its normal operating range.
Common symptoms
- Reduced power or poor fuel economy
- Pinging under load in some cases
- Check engine light
Likely causes
- A wiring, connector or ground problem in the circuit
- A failed sensor or actuator in the circuit
- Faulty bank 2 knock sensor
- Wiring, connector or mounting-torque problem
What to check first
- Inspect the connector and wiring for damage, corrosion or loose pins
- Inspect the bank 2 sensor connector and wiring routing
- Verify the sensor is torqued correctly to the block
Can you keep driving?
Drivable, but the engine may pull timing and lose power; prolonged pinging can cause damage, so diagnose soon.
