P0224 — Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor B Circuit Intermittent

Moderate severity

What it means

P0224 is stored when the engine control unit sees a fault involving throttle/pedal position sensor B. Sensor B is the second, redundant throttle/pedal position signal that the control unit cross-checks against sensor A for safety. An “intermittent” fault appears and clears on its own, which almost always means a connection problem rather than a dead part.

Common symptoms

Likely causes

What to check first

  1. Wiggle-test the connector and harness while watching the live signal
  2. Compare sensor A and B percentages in live data — they should track together
  3. Inspect the connector and wiring

Can you keep driving?

Because B is a safety-redundant signal, the car often drops to reduced power; have it checked promptly.
