P0105 — Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit
Moderate severityWhat it means
P0105 is stored when the engine control unit sees a fault involving the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) / barometric pressure signal. The MAP sensor measures intake manifold pressure (engine load), which the control unit relies on for fuelling and ignition timing. The control unit has flagged this circuit or signal as outside its normal operating range.
Common symptoms
- Hesitation, poor power or rough running
- Hard starting
- Bad fuel economy or black smoke
Likely causes
- A wiring, connector or ground problem in the circuit
- A failed sensor or actuator in the circuit
- Faulty MAP sensor
- Vacuum leak or a blocked MAP vacuum port/hose
What to check first
- Inspect the connector and wiring for damage, corrosion or loose pins
- Compare MAP at key-on (should read barometric pressure) and at idle
- Inspect the MAP hose and port for leaks or carbon
Can you keep driving?
Drivable in most cases but fuelling and timing suffer; diagnose before long trips.
