P0006 is stored when the engine control unit sees a fault involving the fuel shutoff valve control circuit. The fuel shutoff valve lets the control unit stop fuel delivery — for example to shut a diesel engine down — so a circuit fault can affect both starting and stopping. A “low” reading means the signal is stuck near the bottom of its range, which usually points to a short to ground or an internally failed sensor.
